We welcome back our long time head coach Robert Wall.  Robert was the head coach of the Dolphins (formally YMCA Dolphins) for 27 years.  He retired in 2010 and Ed Gaylord took over as head coach.  Robert was Ed’s first swim coach, when Ed was just a child.   After years of swimming under Robert, Ed went on to a conference championship in NCAA swimming.  Retirement was not a good fit for Robert and he rejoined the team during the 2013 swim season.

Both Ed and Robert have acted as head coaches for the Dolphins since the 2015 swim season.

The Dolphins strive to maintain a high ‘coach to swimmer’ ratio, and we have plenty of full-time, part-time and back-up assistant coaches. Most of our assistant coaches are former, long time YMCA Dolphin Swimmers.  All of them participated in high school swimming, with several achieving the status of Captain of their swim teams. Some have also participated in their college or university swim teams as well.  They are all dedicated and knowledgeable individuals with a   passion for competitive swimming.  Most of our coaches work full time jobs and donate their time, during the summer, to help coach the Dolphins Swim team.  They are there because they love the sport and the love the team, a combination which provides both enthusiastic and excellent results year after year.
